About Us

11429_132David O. Williams is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Choosing Joy.  From late high school age, David has always been attracted to the work of healing.  During his sophomore year of college, he decided to pursue a career in mental health counseling — “the perfect blend” he says, of people, art, and science.  David earned his Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Brigham Young University in 1997 and has been in clinical practice continually since, working with both teens and adults.

Choosing Joy is an outgrowth of David’s own clinical and life experience, and has been a work of love.  Its creation springs from his faith in a loving God, his compassion for others, and his dissatisfaction with some contemporary trends in the mental health field.

David thoroughly enjoys helping people achieve healing and abundance!  David’s specialty areas are depression, anxiety, addictions (including sexual and behavioral), adult ADD / ADHD (Attention-Deficit Disorder) and couples issues.  David also enjoys music, fitness, nature, hiking, art, and serving in his community.

Connie Williams is the office manager for Choosing Joy and does a fantastic job!  Although she is too intelligent to love office management, she does love David and supports him in the work that he does!  She also loves to be with her family and enjoys being creative – currently through web development, photography, and blogging about health and wellness.  She keeps home and family flowing smoothly with her strong faith, her spiritual sensitivity, and her innate and learned organization skills.  Connie has a Masters degree in Organizational Behavior from Brigham Young University.

David and Connie have been operating a private practice now since 1999.  They have three amazing children who help keep life especially fun and interesting.
